"Silent Lovers" A Film By Julie Orlick

Join us for a screening of Julie Orlick's short film "Silent Lovers" and a preview of her new film "Very Bauhaus"! A question and answer session will follow.

The unsung artists & eccentric weirdoes of Brooklyn's DIY art scene brings you new avant-garde cinema presented on 16mm film! Julie Orlick (b. 1990) is a Brooklyn-based Los Angeles-born director, film maker, alternative photographer and artist. Her work is based in tintype photography and 16mm film making. In Orlick's current work, she takes aesthetic ques & is greatly inspired by the silent film era, the commedia dell'arte & the pantomime. She has been touring the country with an entire retrospective of her films made from 2014-2017, debuting her longest-short "Silent Lovers", running at 10min long, in full color, shot in 16mm on a Bolex and edited completely by hand with a flatbed Steenbeck. All of her films were made in Brooklyn, NY with tons of love, dedication and support from all the artists and friends she's made while living here and could not have been possible without the facilities, education and encouragement from Mono No Aware Film.
