Body Horror is an exploration of the coexistence of the body and brain when burdened with dysmorphia, depression, and anxiety. This work aims to analyze and expose the fear the artist feels on a day to day basis. There is an indescribable subtle terror in living in a body that feels completely alien to it’s being. The artist uses her own body as a subject and displays it in distorted positions and situations in an attempt to portray the discomfort felt living in this body. The work attempts to separate the physical from the emotional, primarily to show the artist herself, as well as the viewer, that this is her body.
Each print is made in the black and white darkroom by Juliet Grodzins on 20”x24”Adox MCC 110 Silver Gelatin paper with Moersch Catechol & Neutral tone two bath development.
Please join us for a reception with the artist on Friday October 19th from 6:30-9:30pm. Snacks and drinks will be available.
