our Facility: developing, printing, scanning.
In September 2024, Bushwick Community Darkroom opened its current home at 334 Himrod Street, a fully built-out, working analog lab in the heart of Bushwick. This is a space designed to be used, not just admired.
Our facilities support the full analog workflow — film developing, darkroom printing, and scanning — in an environment that’s functional, cared for, and shared. Everything here exists to make it easier to show up, do the work, and learn from one another.
The lab is fully heated & air-conditioned (something you’ll appreciate if you ever came to any of our prior homes), thoughtfully laid out, and accessible 24/7 to members. It’s not pristine or precious — it’s alive, maintained, and always in motion.
WHAT YOU’LL FIND HERE
- Dedicated black & white and color darkrooms
- Film developing and scanning stations
- Enlargers and workspaces set up for real use
- Communal areas for setup, cleanup, and conversation This is a shared facility. We expect people to clean up after themselves, treat equipment with care, and respect the folks working alongside them. If you’re comfortable in a space that runs on mutual responsibility, you’ll feel right at home.
HOW THE SPACE WORKS
- We fix things as they need fixing.
- We upgrade when it makes sense.
- We listen when something isn’t working.
If you’re looking for a reliable, human-scale lab where people actually help each other out, welcome.
